Title of Presentation
“X-Ray Study of a Kyoto Millennium Supernova"
The shock wave of a supernova (SN) explosion makes an X-ray bright expanding plasma. The X-ray observation of the plasma reveals that (1) the origin of the Cosmic Rays (CRs), high energy particles of the Universe, is SN. The acceleration mechanisms of the CR are also revealed to be a diffusive shock acceleration (DSA), a subclass of the Fermi acceleration. (2) The X-ray spectrum reveals that the SN is type Ia, a standard candle to measure the distance scale of the Universe, and quantitatively determines the heavy elements synthesized in a star and in the SN. (3) The X-ray morphology of the Ia SN finds non spherical explosion .
This talk reviews the three subjects in detail. The SN used in this study is that occurred in the last millennium, the Heian era, which was noted in the Meigetsuki, a diary of a court poet, Fujiwara Teika.
