This site on the island of Fuvahmulak in Gnaviyani Atoll contains the ruins of the Funadhoo Miskiyy (mosque), as well as a ziyaarat (mausoleum shrine) and a number of bisthaan (burial enclosures) and carved coral gravestones.
According to local tradition, the island of Fuvahmulak has been abandoned and re-settled repeatedly over the centuries. In the course of that history, some early mosques were significantly renovated and/or reconstructed. Local oral tradition holds that an earlier version of this mosque had a verandah on the south side, but none exists on the present structure.
